Managing people is one of the most challenging parts of any leadership position – but it’s also the most important. Without trust between a leader and their team, the ability to guide and influence is nearly impossible.

Using The Trust Compass, you will consider how care, clarity, consistency, and competency build trust in working relationships. From there, you will identify any trust gaps in your current working relationships, practice purposeful questioning and active listening, and use a strengths-based approach to support employee development.

By the end of the workshop, you will have a 30-60-90-day People Investment Plan for one team member. This plan will include steps to build the relationship, a development goal, and a schedule for regular check-ins.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion, participants should be able to:

  • Analyze one of your current relationships for trust gaps using The Trust Compass
  • Explain why care anchors trust and how clarity, consistency, and competency can strengthen your relationships
  • Practice a structured one-on-one using a one-on-one practice tool
  • Create a development conversation outline based on your team member’s strengths
  • Produce a comprehensive People Investment Plan with relationship actions, a goal, and check-ins

Method of Delivery

Presentation, case studies, experiential practice, personal reflection, small group discussions
