Note: This refresher course is designed for people who have already completed our full length De-escalating Potentially Violent Situations Workshop. It is a great way to renew your knowledge and confidence every year or two. If you’re new to this training, we recommend starting with the full workshop first

If you work with people, it’s crucial to know how to defuse dangerous situations before they become violent. This refresher will equip you with a trauma-informed approach to de-escalate situations with confidence, interpersonal communication skills, and empathy.

You’ll receive a short review of how our brains manage escalating emotions, followed by how enablers of violence contribute to increase in risk. There will be an overview of the de-escalation process, with a focus on awareness and connection.

By the end of this two-hour refresher, you will have a renewed grasp of how to confidently navigate tense situations with a diverse set of interpersonal tools and strategies.
