Dealing with issues related to mental health in the workplace can be challenging and difficult to navigate. It is essential that organizations have the capabilities to manage mental health because early identification and support typically leads to continued productivity and retention of employees. This workshop provides a roadmap to help managers participate in conversations with employees who may require support when experiencing difficulties related to mental health. Participants will learn strategies for creating a more inclusive work environment that reduces stigma surrounding mental health.

  • Explain how to engage employees in need of support when experiencing mental health difficulties

Facilitator: Heather Woodward

Heather is a Registered Social Worker with over 25 years of experience supporting individuals and teams and working directly in demanding and stressful environments. Drawing on a Master of Social Work degree grounded in Indigenous Knowledge, she brings a decolonizing and practical approach to leadership that emphasizes wholisitc wellness for all. Heather works to empower individuals, leaders, and teams to navigate stress, build resilience, and create cultures of honesty, balance, and trust. When she is not leading workshops with ACHIEVE, Heather works one-on-one at her own private practice as a therapist, supporting people who are experiencing burnout, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma from their high-stress, high-demand careers. Heather is known for her straightforward, relatable, and compassionate style – cutting through complexity to help people see themselves clearly and lead with authenticity. She believes leadership begins with strong self-awareness, and that personal insight is the foundation of sustainable performance and connection.
